The best results for the Australian Open Team in the 2005 Bermuda Bowl were against Canada (21-9), Chinese Taipei (23-7), England (21-9), Poland (19-11) Portugal (22-8) and Russia 18-12. Incredible losses were to Guadeloupe (13-17), Jordan (6-24) and New Zealand (7-23).

In the final of the 2005 Bermuda Bowl (world open teams), Italy (the Makybe Diva of the bridge world) beat USA1 by 268 - 250, after USA1 had started with a 20-Imp carry-forward. In the semi-finals Italy walloped Sweden 205 - 131 and USA1 beat USA2 211 - 172. The bronze medal went to USA2, beating Sweden 91-76.

Treasurer Costello Endorses Bermuda Angle On Tax Havens

TREASURER Peter Costello has issued a sharply worded warning to Western governments and tax havens alike against pursuing a "race to the bottom" by trying to attract business from tax avoiders.
